Questions Answered During Uncertainties

By: Beatriz Flores

When 2020 started there were a lot of people that were hopeful that this would be visibly clear a good year, and as everyone walking this Earth knows it really has not. From Taal volcano exploding to COVID-19, 2020 is not shaping up to be the year we expected it to be, but we are still here. We have been making the best out of the cards this year has dealt us, and seem to be doing just fine. But as 2020 comes to an end, surely there have been questions that you have been pondering the last nine months. And with all that has happened, have you found answers to them?

  1. Is it too late to start my dream business?

This is a common question that most adults have. Most people will choose the more practical career, the one that is stable and can allow them to steadily provide financial support to their families. The first few years can be rewarding, but once the realization that you might be stuck at a job that you do not particularly love for the rest of your life, there is a certain despair that creeps in.

Pursuing your passions have been famously reserved for those who have a ton of monetary resources. But that is not entirely true. The most important factor is having the courage to boldly go on the journey of achieving your dreams, no matter how wild they might seem. If it is starting your own restaurant or launching a new app, or whatever your passion dictates, there is no dream that fate will deem wild. If this pandemic has taught us anything, it is that life is short, and that the mythical “right time” does not exist. As a wise man once said, fortune favors the bold. So, be bold!

  1. Is it the right time to buy your dream house?

I think it is in everyone’s list of goals to buy a home that they can call their own. A place where all your loved ones can gather, and home where you can grow old with your partner. But with the developments here and there, prices always seem so intimidating. And maybe, renting does not seem that bad anymore. But after awhile you realize that if you total all the rent you have been paying all these years, you could have more than enough for the house and lot you have been eyeing for.

Owning a home is a goal that almost every working adult across the globe has. It is not just about having a piece of land that is yours, but the thought of passing something off to your children, and they can also pass that home to their kids.  Buying a house will always be a good investment, it is a purchase that every generation of your family can benefit from. So, why not? Rarely does a big decision heavily outweighs its cons. Buy the home that you want, so you can live your dream rather than drown in your what ifs.

  1. Is it too late to pursue your dream degree?

It is common for some people at a very young age to already have decided to pursue the more logical career choice that would result from their decision to what major to take when they enter college. There are some degrees that cost too expensive to pursue, which may have hindered a lot of people to push through with their supposed dream degree. This, may also contributes to their disappointments and not being fully content with their lives. The financial payoff can be worth it, plus the fact that it can always push you believe that you might be happier if you just had the means to pursue your dream degree when you were younger.

And the fact of the matter is, you can always go back to university and finish the course you have always wanted to take. If the what ifs are still bothering you after all these years, then you must go after it. The thought that you might be too old to go back to school must factor into your con list. But when in pursuit of happiness, why should age ever be a factor?
